17 D6 AA Wrestlers qualify for the PIAA State Tournament

    The PIAA AA Southwest Regional Tournament got underway this afternoon at Peters Township High School.  The top 8 finishers from District 7, top 6 finishers from District 6, and top 3 finishers from District 5 compete in the AA Southwest Regional Tournament.  Each weight class has 17 wrestlers, and the top 6 wrestlers from each weight class qualify for the PIAA AA State tournament to be held on March 10-12 at the Giant Center in Hershey. 

    District 6 started the afternoon with 78 wrestlers competing, and 17 have punched their ticket to Hershey.  Three D6 wrestlers have have been eliminated from the tournament by losing their first two matches.  That leaves 58 wrestlers competing in the consolation rounds trying to get those final spots in the PIAA AA State Tournament.  Wrestling will continue tomorrow at 9:00am with Consolation Round 1, and continue all day with the Parade of Champions at 5:00pm, and finals slated to start at 5:15pm. 

The following D6 AA wrestlers have made the semifinals, and secured their spots in the State tournament.

Brian Ingalls

Brian Ingalls is the owner/operator of Pa Sports History. Brian was a multi sport athlete for United High School in Armagh, Pa. Shortly after graduation, Brian joined the military and spent 6 years in the U.S. Army. After his military service, Brian moved back to the United school district. Brian and his wife, Susan, have four children. All four children were/still are involved in high school sports.

Brian has spent most of his life involved with high school sports and has spent the past 20 years researching and collecting schedules, results, and stats for high school sports mainly in the District 6 area.
